• Jamie Vardy: From Nowhere, my story • I started watching football a while back now and I think anyone who watches football, especially the English Premier League knows how excellent Jamie Vardy is, no matter which club you support there are just some remarkable players who we are always in awe of and for me it has to be Jamie Vardy. Even more so now that I’ve read his autobiography. A lot of people do find autobiographies/biographies boring but I’m pretty sure when it’s someone’s we truly adore it almost always turns out to be an incredible read. Jamie Vardy does have a very inspirational story to tell, from playing pub football, earning £30 a week at Stocksbridge Park Steels while working in a factory to winning the Premier League with Leicester City, Jamie Vardy has accomplished so much and with so much determination and hard work. The book is a very humble and candid story of his growth and about his support system through his journey of him becoming the man he is today. Jamie Var...

Divinity by Prateek Srivastava.

Image
JK Rowling once said," If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book." Divinity is one of the few books which can make a person fall in love with reading. The story revolves around the protagonist Avi who joins the best detective in town and catch a serial killer and put his oddities to good use. In an extraordinary turn of events, he meets Kabir, the man who he believes has the answers to many questions he spent his entire life pondering upon. The author, Prateek Srivastava is exceptionally good at describing each and every character which gives the reader a clear image and doesn't make them feel lost at any point in the book. Every situation is narrated with extreme precision which contributes to the originality of the author’s beautiful writing style. The story isn't like any typical fictional book I've read until now, it was refreshing and kept my eyes peeled. Throughout the terrific journey of the book, you'll find a   bunch ...

The Sun is also a Star by Nicola Yoon.

Seldom do I find myself relating to a character or getting attached to a fictional character as I did with Natasha. The 17 year old who arrived from Jamaica ten years ago, and tonight she might leave the USA forever. Daniel, the male protagonist who believes in love and poetry but is being pushed by his parents for something he doesn't aspire to become meets Natasha who believes in science and facts who have a total of twelve hours to meet , get to know each and maybe fall in love, beyond their differences. Natasha who refuses to believe in the concept of love and destiny changes when a part of her wants to believe in them as she gets to know Daniel. Whereas Daniel who believed in love, starts believing that none of it exists and that it's all just merely a game of chemicals .The spark between them is undeniable which makes it so much more fascinating. The book is different in every possible way, be it the style of writing, the construction of the book, the fact that we ha...

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.

Image
Shantaram is one of the books which was on my bookshelf which has been there for as long as I can remember and I always wondered just by looking at the size of it as it's a 933 page long read , how one could write such a long book , I recently read it and I understood that only a man with such a wide variety of experiences in his life could write it . The book is about an Australian convict and heroin addict who escapes from Pentridge Prison and flees to India who then resides in a slum hoping he wouldn't be noticed which later turns into a failure as he is soon recognized for his medical talents and approached by the local mafia. It's a book full of emotions, colors,   grief of loss , cruelty and love . The main character , Lin describes India so specifically that though being an Indian   , I had the opportunity to discover India in a completely different way. The author draws the readers into a stuffy atmosphere in Mumbai and loses in it. The book does not skip penur...

A Fine Balance - The perfect quarantine read.

Image
A Fine Balance is a book which is to be relished and the reader must savor each word throughout the entire book.   Rohinton Mistry has an excellent power over his words and makes it really easy for the reader to stay connected to the characters as he describes each and every setting precisely. The book does not promise you a fairy tale ending, but is absolutely beautiful yet tragic. It’s deeply moving how the four main characters of the book who had absolutely no one for themselves end up being each other’s worlds.   This reading is a heart-breaking one but an extremely important one as well. This book makes us realize how we should be thankful at times like these when the world is fighting a global pandemic   and how many people in the world are still helpless and can’t even provide for their family’s needs .   It is the perfect quarantine read as it changes our views about so many things in life and throws light on what actually matters.
